3-D Printing

Save Time and Money With 3D Printing

In order to check the viability of a design without spending the time and money required to build it, prototype samples are not only useful, but also quick to produce and cost effective.

We Can Do It

At Hipsher Tool & Die, Inc. we can produce ABS plastic parts DIRECTLY from 3D CAD files.  Just bring us your design of  marketing tools, snap-fit functional testing, proof of concept, product mock-ups, etc. and watch your design come to life  in our 3D "printer."

3D printing works by using thin cross-sectional slices of a 3D CAD file, then building up layers of material to form an actual 3D object in  the same shape and dimensions as specified on the print. The Dimension SST-768 3D Printer uses FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) technology incorporating two types of material, a soluble support material and ABS plastic. Sophisticated software algorithms determine the precise amount and location of material required to achieve the desired size and shape of the finished product.  Using small nozzles, the support material is added to the build cycle as needed to create a platform on which the ABS will be deposited.   After the part has been removed from the printer, the soluble support material is dissolved away in a cleaning station.

These parts can be used as pre-production prototypes, scale models or actual parts.  Depending upon the complexity of the design, some models can be turned around in as little as 24 hours.  No 3D CAD drawing of your project?  No problem.  Let our design team create one for you.

Below is an example of how 3D printing can work for you:

Building a test fixture for a part before production begins when you have no actual part to use for reference.

More possibilities:

Buillding prototypes to test fit and function prior to making the tooling for actual components.
